Rogue Lightning (IRE) Might Stay Stateside Following Valvoline Global Shakertown Performance

Wathnan Racing’s Rogue Lightning (IRE)’s stay in North America might not be over following his runner-up effort in Tuesday’s Valvoline Global Shakertown (G2).

“We expect to maybe hear something today on whether he will stay,” said Carrie Browning, who was Rogue Lightning’s morning partner.

Browning said trainer Tom Clover watched the race from England.

“He was very pleased, considering some of the days we had to stay in the barn,” Browning said of a couple of days missed when the Keeneland training track was closed because of weather.

A Group 3 winner in Qatar prior to coming to Keeneland, Rogue Lightning could return to Churchill Downs in the coming week for a possible run in the May 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint (G2) Presented by Accenture. He quarantined at the Louisville track upon arriving in the U.S.
